This engineered hardwood floor features extra wide planks of 9-1/2 inches wide and a is strong enough to manage a high amount of foot traffic. Like all the colors from the VILLA CAPRISI Collection, this floor is made from authentic European White Oak of the highest grade available. Each of these flooring planks is individually crafted with a wire-brushed texture and perfectly terminated with a 7 layer, lacquered finish to help protect the natural qualities and beauty of the wood. The Villa Caprisi Abruzzo also comes with a gorgeous hand-ground finish. A micro-beveled edge on all four sides of the plank provide a beautiful definition throughout the whole surface of the floor.

Maintenance

Guidelines

The above Collection is made of high quality, natural wood engineered flooring with a water based, lacquered finish.
Never use a wax or oil based cleaning product on a lacquered finish. Urbanfloor recommends Bona® cleaning products. Bona (also known as BonaKemi®) is widely regarded as the best cleaning solution available. Visit www.mybonahome.com to find out more about their products. Remember all purpose cleaners are not recommended as they can dull your floor’s finish or leave a hazy residue.

For slightly damp cleaning, spray any non-abrasive hardwood floor cleaner (we recommend Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner or Mohawk’s FloorCare Essentials Hardwood & Laminate Cleaner) onto a cotton, terrycloth, or microfiber mop. Avoid wet-mop cleaning with water or liquid cleaners. During inclement weather, avoid exposing your flooring to water as much as possible.

Preventing Damage

Most important step to keep your floors healthy is to allow for the right room climate by maintaining a stable environment in the home. A room temperature of 60° to 80° F and a humidity range of 30-50% is recommended year round. The use of a humidifier or de-humidifier may be required.

Hardwood floors are quick and easy to maintain, and with a few low cost cleaning tools and a little preventative maintenance, your floors can look beautiful for years to come. In addition to maintaining a stable environment, your hardwood floor should be cleaned regularly. Simply sweep, dust mop or vacuum to remove dirt and grit. When necessary clean your floor with a hardwood floor cleaning product.

Carefully follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions. Avoid using a wet mop as over time this can damage the finish. All purpose cleaners are not recommended as they can dull your floor’s finish or leave a hazy residue.

Disclaimers

Properties

All images are representative of a product’s potential characteristics and are only meant to provide and overall look of the product. Because colors and shading vary on different screens, we do not guarantee that these images will 100% match the actual product. Hardwood planks can be subject to variations in color, shade, surface texture and finish. Natural character marks such as knots, worm-holes and splits are inherent to hardwood floors. Based on industry standards, a defect/irregular tolerance of up to 5% is allowed.

Normal exposure to sunlight, heat, air conditioners, etc. will bring about natural changes in the original color as the floor ages. If possible, use blinds or drapes to protect floor from excessive sunlight. When some areas of the floor are covered, as in large furniture pieces and area rugs, the change under these pieces can be lighter than the surrounding floor, as they are not exposed to the same conditions. This is normal and is not a defect. Rotating the position of area rugs and furniture from time to time will allow the covered areas to slowly adjust in color to the surrounding floor.

Installation

The following installation methods can be used over radiant heated floors, concrete or plywood sub-floors.

Floating: Install over approved sub-floor. A minimum 6 mil poly vapor retarder should be used over a concrete sub-floor. In some cases, this may be part of the flooring underlayment . A foam or resilient approved underlayment must be installed prior to installation of wood flooring. Use Titebond’s T&G glue for grooves.

Glue Down: Use over a approved sub-floor. Use only approved adhesives and trowels and be sure to follow the adhesive installation guidelines. Urbanfloor recommends Titebond Flooring adhesives. For grooves use Titebond T&G glue.

Staple or Nailed Down: Install over approved sub-floor. Be sure fasteners are not so long as to penetrate the heat source.

For detailed installation guidelines check the instruction found within your floor cartons. You can also find these instructions here.
